Environmental Studies Prepared for a Proposed Recyclable Materials Transfer Station

Duke Ismael

A series of studies have been recently completed by Benbow Environmental to assess the impacts of a proposed recyclable materials transfer station.  Materials on site were proposed to be sorted manually.  Demolition of buildings and installation of a weighbridge were also proposed as part of the scope of the studies.  Aspects covered as part of the studies were noise impacts, air quality impacts, chemical management, impacts to flora and fauna, impact by water, soil and land, waste issues, heritage and transport and traffic.  These studies were recently submitted to the consent authority for their review and approval, to which these studies were used to support a development application submission.  As part of the process of preparing these studies, it was understood that the environmental issues of the site were reasonably minimal but were assessed thoroughly as per the requirements from the consent authority.
